Pouch formats and sizing

What pouch formats do you make?

CPP makes custom printed stand-up pouches and flat pouches. There are 12 stand-up sizes, from 3.25 × 4.75 × 2 in to 12 × 12.5 × 3.5 in, and 8 flat sizes, from 3.25 × 4.5 in to 7 × 12 in.

How do I choose the right pouch size?

Trial-fill the planned amount of your actual product, then check loading, settling, headspace, the zipper and the top-seal area. The pouch volume calculator and the pouch size guide help you shortlist sizes before you test.

How much does each pouch size hold?

As planning estimates, an S1 stand-up pouch (3.25 × 4.75 × 2 in) holds about 175 mL, an S6 (6.5 × 8 × 2.5 in) about 960 mL and an S12 (12 × 12.5 × 3.5 in) about 4,550 mL. Real capacity depends on your product, so confirm with a fill test.

Which features can I add?

You can add a resealable zipper, tear notches, a round hang hole or a euro slot, and a clear product window. Euro slots aren't available on sizes S1, L13, L14 and L16, which take a 6 mm round hole instead. A product window requires a clear material.

How can I tell whether my product will fit?

Check a filled pouch rather than the empty dimensions. Use representative product, the intended fill amount and any serving tool, then check the usable opening and seal clearance. For stand-up pouches, also check that the gusset opens and the filled pack is stable.

Does a zipper replace the initial heat seal?

No. The zipper lets customers reclose the pouch after opening. Plan and test the top heat seal separately.

Are CPP pouches child resistant?

No. The standard pouch and zipper are not represented as child resistant.

Do you offer degassing valves?

No. CPP pouches don't include valves. Products that release gas, such as freshly roasted coffee, need a filling and packing plan that works without one.

Materials and finishes

Which materials and finishes are available?

Six three-layer films: White Matte BOPP, White Gloss PET, Clear Matte BOPP, Clear Gloss PET, Metallic Matte BOPP and Metallic Gloss PET. Each has a detail page and a downloadable specification sheet.

Should I choose white, clear or metallic?

White gives an opaque print base, clear shows the product and metallic is opaque with reflective effects. Metallic lists the lowest oxygen transmission (≤0.03 cm³/100 in²/24 hr); white and clear list the lowest water-vapor transmission (≤0.063 g/100 in²/24 hr).

Should I choose matte or gloss?

Choose matte for a soft, low-glare surface or gloss for brighter color and a reflective finish. Within the same base, matte and gloss list the same barrier and seal values.

Does the material change the price?

No. All six materials and finishes cost the same in the configurator. Size, features, designs, quantity and production speed set the price.

Do barrier values guarantee shelf life?

No. OTR and WVTR measure oxygen and water vapor passing through the film under test conditions. Shelf life also depends on the product, seals, filling, storage, shipping and repeated opening, so validate the finished package.

Are CPP pouches food safe?

The specification sheets cite FDA food-contact regulations for the individual film layers. They don't certify the finished pouch for a specific food, so confirm contact, filling, seals and storage with your actual product.

Can I fill pouches with liquids?

Direct filling with liquids isn't established by the standard film data. Start with secondary packaging around a compatible sealed container, or gather product-specific compatibility, leak and seal evidence.

Artwork and printing

Can I upload my own artwork?

Yes. Upload one print-ready PDF per design with your configured order, built in CMYK on the template for your pouch size.

What artwork file specifications do you need?

One PDF/X-1a:2001 file per design, in CMYK, with 300 dpi images, outlined text, embedded images and 100% K black. Keep key details inside the safe area and extend backgrounds past the edge.

Where do I get the template for my pouch size?

Download it from the template table on the artwork page. Choose your final size and features first, because each size has its own template.

Is full-color printing available?

Yes. CPP offers full-color custom printing on all pouch sizes and materials.

Can I design my pouch online?

Yes. The pouch configurator includes an online designer, or you can upload a finished file.

Is artwork review included?

Yes. CPP reviews your file before production, and production begins after you approve it. The review doesn't replace your own check of label requirements, claims or barcodes.

How do I add a clear window or metallic effect?

Choose a clear material for a window or a metallic material for metallic effects, then build a White Ink layer that leaves out the window or metallic areas. The artwork guides show each step.

Can I print several designs in one order?

Yes. Set the number of designs in the configurator and upload one file per design. Each additional design adds $55 at standard speed.

Pricing and ordering

How do I get a price for custom pouches?

Build your pouch in the configurator. The live quote updates as you choose the format, size, material, features, number of designs, quantity and production speed.

How much do custom pouches cost?

For example, 100 S1 stand-up pouches with a zipper cost $376.40 and 1,000 S6 stand-up pouches with a zipper cost $1,179.64 at standard speed, before shipping and tax. The price per pouch drops as quantity rises.

What is the minimum order quantity?

The configurator includes a one-pouch option, plus quantities from 100 to 50,000 per configuration. Choose the quantity offered for your configuration to see its price.

Is shipping free?

Standard shipping is free on orders of $299 or more. Otherwise shipping is calculated at checkout.

Will I receive exactly the quantity I order?

Not always. Completed orders may include up to 10% more pouches than ordered, at no additional charge.

How do I place an order?

Configure the pouch, review the live quote, upload artwork and add the configured order to your cart. Before checkout, check size, features, design count and quantity against the files you intend to print.

Production and delivery

How long does production take?

Standard production takes 5 business days. Faster speeds of 4, 3, 2 or 1 business days cost 1.25× to 2× the standard price. Production starts after artwork approval.

Is production time the same as delivery time?

No. Allow time for artwork review and shipping as well as production. If you need pouches by a specific date, contact CPP before you order.
